Goethe-Institut Testing

The German Department at the University of Pittsburgh is now an officially authorized testing center by the Goethe Institut. We typically offer examinations at the A2, B1, B2, and C1 levels once a year. These exams are designed to demonstrate proficiency in German, and are recognized all over the world. Note: The exams are open to anyone, not just Pitt students.

The fees are as follows:

If you are a student at the University of Pittsburgh, Chatham University, or Mt. Lebanon HS:

A2: $110, B1*: $130, B2*: $140, C1: $150

For everyone else:

A2: $180, B1*: $200, B2*: $220, C1: $250

*It is also possible to take individual modules of the B1 or B2 exam. Please get in touch to discuss the details.

We plan to have our next testing date in Fall 2021 (probably late October). Please email Viktoria Harms at vih16@pitt.edu for more information.

To register, please click here: Goethe-Institut Testing, and send a check or money order made payable to the "University of Pittsburgh" for the amount corresponding to the desired exam level.
